Extended DISC International carries its corporate responsibility to the global community. We participate regularly in activities that aim to improve the living conditions of the unprivileged.
In 2009, we asked you to participate by sending us a Season's Greeting. For each greeting
received, we promised to donate 50 Euro cents to the Women's Bank. We would like to thank all of you for your greetings! We received a total of 1,619 messages!
In 2007, we felt it would be important to make all our clients and partners aware of the importance of protecting the world against global warming.
Due to global warming, different extreme weather conditions have become more common everywhere in the world. The consequences of flooding are most severe in areas where people live in extreme poverty and bad living conditions. People fighting for survival do not have resources to prioritize the nature. Still, it is the preservation of the nature that will give them a future.
For this reason, we donated our Christmas funds to a rebuilding project in Western Nepal. The donation of 1500 trees will help protect the nature and the villages from natural catastrophes caused by flooding.

In 2006, we donated money to build a whole classroom for a school in Congo. The classroom should be ready in March 2007.
Education is a key element in stopping the increasing poverty in the underdeveloped countries. Poor facilities make it difficult to learn or even to go to school at all. Africa desperately needs more schools. All children who want to go to school do not fit into the classrooms and classes often have to be held outdoors. One classroom may have over 100 children who sit very tightly. Often they do not have the necessary school supplies.
Many villages do not have a school at all and a possibility to go to a school is only a dream for many children. Especially for girls, a long trip to a school is a major obstacle for being able to attend school. Lack of schools also slows down the process of allowing the refugees to return to their home villages.
In North Kivu area some school buildings were used as barracks by militiamen and the furniture burned for firewood. Both parents and local authorities fell it is essential to keep the youth in school and away from the reach of recruitment by various militia groups. FinnChurchAid is supporting rehabilitation and reconstruction work that includes school construction, furniture for schools, school uniforms for vulnerable pupils and education material for teachers and students. With the help of our donation, a new school is built and basic education is supported in one of the poorest countries of the world.
In 2005, we donated a well to a village in India near the city of cuttack in Oryssa county. The well provides a whole village with clean water. Over a billion people live without access to clean water. Another 2.5 billion people live without proper sanitation. Over 30,000 people die every day from diseases caused by inadequate water supply or poor plumbing systems. Unfortunately, most of them are children.
With the help of our donation, the villagers will participate from the beginning of the project. They will contribute to the planning of the well, and also do the actual construction work. The villagers will be trained to service the well so that they can independently take care of it in the future.
Adequate water supply will give the people in the village a better and more healthy life. It also will make it possible for them to grow vegetables and plants. As a result, new income possibilities are created for the families.
